Sure, you love kids and you may have wanted one for a long time. But are the two of you really prepared to open your hearts and home to a child who may look very different from you and your families? How would you feel about not knowing much about your baby’s birth family — including their health and genetic history — if you go the closed-adoption route? If you’re considering international adoption or adopting a special-needs child, think about the future when your little one may be teased or bullied because he looks or acts differently from his classmates.
